Westmoreland County chiropractor, Tony Bompiani, DC, defeated attorney Chris Huffman and will now move on to challenge Republican Senator Bob Regola this fall for the only two contested state Senate seats in the area.
ACA member Bompiani has practiced chiropractic for more than 32 years, and also spent 12 years as a member and 5 years as president of the Hempfield Area school board.
"We need to meet with the other side of the Democratic Party and draw them together," Bompiani noted. He said the party would have trouble winning in November without unity, and he was encouraged by a concession call he received from Huffman in which he said he would work with the nominee to defeat Regola.
Regola ran unopposed, but is currently awaiting trial on perjury and gun charges for a 2006 occurrence wherein authorities noted that his neighbor, 14-year-old Louis Farrell, shot himself with Regola’s gun. Regola is charged with lying during the coroner’s inquest into the shooting and of giving his teenage son, Bobby, access to the gun.
