Paul Lunter, president of AquaMED in Clearwater, FL, spoke to Chiropractic Products
about AquaMED products and services.
Why should chiropractors add hydrotherapy as one of their services?
The AquaMED offers the benefits of massage and heat. By loosening muscles prior to
treatment, it can assist with adjustments. Doctors have told us that post-treatment use
helps the adjustment stay longer and minimizes delayed onset soreness. The range of
treatment areas and pressures makes AquaMED perfect for a variety of conditions, such as
chronic back pain, auto accidents, fibromyalgia, and myofascial pain syndrome.
Our clients have shown that the AquaMED can increase referrals, retention (greater
treatment compliance), and revenue (reimbursement or cash). It can assist with office flow
and patient satisfaction and is a great marketing tool (to attract new clients, and to
reconnect with lost clients).
How expensive is the product, and what is the return on investment?
Prices range from $6,900 to $20,000. Return on investment varies depending on how many
patients are seen per day, office location, and whether the practice bills insurance or
charges cash. For example, on our most expensive product, the payments can be as low as
about $22 per day. One or two patients on the AquaMED a day will cover the cost, and just
10 patients a day can provide a 100%, 200%, or higher ROI directly from the bed, without
considering its positive impact on new-patient referrals and patient retention. We have
many clients that have reported much higher return rates.
What proof is there that the product works to reduce pain?
Private studies have been conducted by medical professionals to determine
AquaMEDs effectiveness. The studies have shown a range of positive impacts,
including reductions in pain for a variety of conditions, a decrease in medication use,
and positive impacts on circulation and blood pressure. One study showed a 44% decrease in
perceived pain after use of the AquaMED. We are happy to provide interested parties these
study results upon request.
How can chiropractors become educated on the product, and what technical
support is offered?
Review our Web site at www.aquamed.com, which has
valuable information on each of our products, clinical benefits, financial benefits, and
customer testimonials. One of our sales consultants can assist with identifying if the
AquaMED is a good fit for the doctors practice, generate a custom cost/benefit
analysis, and arrange a trial either locally or by visiting us at a trade show. We provide
assistance for marketing the AquaMED and the doctors practice, as well as technical
assistance on the maintenance and operation of the AquaMED. (Technical assistance is
provided as part of the purchase.)
