Levelers Supports State Organizations Through Education
Foot Levelers and the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations (COCSA) have
introduced a Speakers Bureau program that will support the Congress and its
state organizations. Foot Levelers speakers provide some of the most popular
continuing education seminars about rehabilitation, extremity adjusting, special
populations, structural management, insurance coding, subluxation complexes, sports
injuries, and specialty techniques that doctors can apply to their practices. This program is a valuable resource in bringing quality programs
and funding to state associations, says Kent S. Greenawalt, president and CEO of
Foot Levelers. Not only does this program generate revenue, but Foot Levelers can
save an association thousands of dollars on convention planning, marketing, and staffing
costs, so less money is needed for administrative costs and more membership funds can be
used to help chiropractic.
During the COCSA 2005 convention in San Francisco on November
25, 2005, Foot Levelers donated $10,000 to state associations and to support the
chiropractic profession. |
Former
Sherman President Named Chancellor
Two weeks after announcing his retirement, Jerry L. Hardee, EdD, who served as
the third president of Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic, Spartanburg, SC, has
rejoined the college as chancellor. Dr
Hardee made many notable contributions to Sherman College during his presidency, and we
look forward to his continued involvement with the college, says Thomas A. Gelardi,
DC, Shermans founder and interim president.
As chancellor, Hardee supervises areas of institutional
advancement, enrollment services, public relations, and leadership development. Hardee
also maintains his commitment to the Spartanburg community, including his service as a
member of the boards of directors of many local organizations.
Its not easy to simply walk away from an
institution when it has become so important to ones very existence, says
Hardee. I shall bring to fruition several of the projects that were ongoing or in
the planning stages during my presidency. |
DCs
Donate Services to Their Communities
Three doctors of chiropractic from the Norwalk clinic of the Connecticut-based
DRS Chiropractic LLC joined the annual Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, a 2-day event held
October 12, 2005, in New York City. The chiropractors (David Rich, DC; Leigh
Damkohler, DC; and Astrid Monsalve-Smith, DC) donated their services to the walkers,
coordinated outreach in Connecticut, and brought chiropractic awareness to Fairfield
County residents. The chiropractic care
that we offered at the event was truly appreciated and benefited the walkers
tremendously, Rich says. The volunteers, chiropractic team, and event staff
gave me the will to treat some 8 hours straight.
The DCs treated about 400 walkers the first day. The
professional services Rich and his colleagues provided included chiropractic, physical
therapy, massage therapy, podiatric medicine, and medical services. The most common
problems Rich encountered from the walkers were upper-back pain along with mechanical
lower back pain and lower-extremity muscular complaints.
According to Rich, about half of the walkers had never seen a
DC before, and after they were treated they said they felt re-energized and ready to walk
the second half of the event the next day.
That gave me a great boost of energy and allowed me to
treat for 8 hours straight, with few interruptions, Rich says. |
