Hawk Named Researcher of the Year At the biennial International Conference on Chiropractic Research (ICCR), the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research (FCER) honored Cheryl Hawk, DC, PhD, with the 2005 Researcher of the Year Award for providing outstanding research to the chiropractic profession. Cheryl Hawk, DC, PhD Dr Hawks numerous awards are impressive and underscore her painstaking, reflective, and deeply committed approach to both teaching and research, says Anthony L. Rosner, PhD, FCERs director of research. Recently named the dean of research at the Southern California University of Health Sciences, Hawk has held research and faculty positions at the Palmer College of Chiropractic, the Consortial Center for Chiropractic Research, and the Parker Research Institute. During Hawks tenure as researcher, she has published several articles in peer-reviewed biomedical journals. In addition, Hawk is one of a few DCs to have obtained federal grant funding from the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM). Her thoughtful publications seem to have encompassed what I believe are some of the most critical and under-researched areas of chiropractic health care, including clinical research design issues, practice-based research, development of a manual placebo procedure, primary care, geriatric care, womens health problems, reliabilities of various outcome instruments, and prevention and maintenance, says Rosner. The tournament benefited the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Associations Educational and Charitable Foundation, which works to increase the awareness of chiropractic as an effective means of health care.To help golfers improve their game, increase their tee-off distance, and lower their scores, Foot Levelers Inc provided five pairs of custom-made Parflex PlusŪ Spinal Pelvic Stabilizers.
