Foot Levelers Makes Donation to Chiropractic Colleges Foot Levelers Inc has donated more than $37,000 to chiropractic colleges from proceeds generated by its spring 2004 license renewal seminar. Providing chiropractors-to-be with the very best educational benefits and services is the key to chiropractics future, says Foot Levelers President and CEO Kent S. Greenawalt. Over the past 50 years, the Foot Levelers organization has contributed several million dollars to the professions learning institutions. Major financial donations from Foot Levelers have helped fund the Greenawalt Chair for Research and the renovated Greenawalt Library at Northwestern College of Chiropractic; the Foot Levelers Center (two high-tech classrooms) at Palmer College of Chiropractic, and the Foot Levelers Gait Research Program at New York Chiropractic College. Proceeds from fall seminars taking place in major cities from coast to coast, including 1- and 2-day seminars and two mega conferences, will also be donated to chiropractic colleges. At its second-annual Presidents Invitational Golf Tournament at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn, Northwestern honored Greenawalt for his contributions to the chiropractic colleges and the profession Foot Levelers is one of the main supporters, not only for us at Northwestern, but for chiropractic as a whole, says Northwestern President Alfred D. We are so pleased as to how they have participated with us as a corporate partner and also as a presenting sponsor at Hazeltine. | Life West Helps At-Risk Children Life Chiropractic CollegeWest, Hayward, Calif, hosted its eighth annual Backpack Drive to collect new backpacks for local at-risk children who are returning to school.So many great success stories have been brought through this program, and we are very grateful for Life Wests continued support, says Nancy Schluntz, executive director of Family Emergency Shelter Coalition (FESCO). The drive, which was held in conjunction with FESCOs school-supply drive, collected the majority of the backpacks for children and college-bound young adults, while other local organizations and businesses donated additional backpacks and school supplies, including pencils, binders, paper, crayons, and rulers. Life West students helped about 130 kids choose their brand-new school backpacks and adjusted each childs backpack straps for ergonomic correctness. Life West has supported FESCO for a number of years through food, clothing, and school-supply drives; provided free health care; taught reading skills to children through the America Reads program, and has made numerous monetary donations. | DCs Honored by the Colorado Chiropractic Association Tom Lankering, DC, of Aspen, Colo, was recently elected president of the Colorado Chiropractic Association by fellow doctors. A 1984 graduate of Palmer Chiropractic College, Davenport, Iowa, Lankering worked his way through college as a professional piano player and ski instructor. He also holds a BS in biology from State University of New York, Albany. For the past 20 years, he has maintained a health and wellnessbased practice in Aspen and was one of the first chiropractors to establish a practice in the city. He has contributed to his community by serving on the Aspen Leadership Board, the Pitkin County Planning and Zoning Commission, and several Aspen-area task forces. For the past 9 years, he has hosted his own local television show, Healthy Lifestyles. Eleven doctors of chiropractic and six friends of chiropractors were honored with awards during the CCAs 70th Annual State Convention.
