Life West Holds Spring for Life Life Chiropractic College Wests annual Spring for Life was held on May 20, promoting the theme Be the Change, which refers to the Mohandas Gandhi quote, You must be the change you wish to see in the world. Chiropractors, chiropractic assistants, and chiropractic students listened to the speech given by Life West President Gerard Clum, DC, as he touched upon a number of subjects relating to chiropractic and the many updates on campus. During his speech, Clum introduced Life Wests newest members of the colleges board of regents: Darrel Gibson, DC, a private chiropractic practioner from Seattle, and Gerald Eagleston, principal of The Eagleston Team, Phoenix. Clum also introduced Life Universitys new president, Guy Riekeman, DC. | NCCA Receives Donation The North Carolina Chiropractic Association (NCCA) received a donation from Foot Levelers Inc, Roanoke, Va, in honor of the late Christine Libby Caron, former executive director of the association, who died September 29, 2003, following a battle with cancer. The contribution of $8,819 represents 100% of the proceeds from two chiropractic seminars held in North Carolina. In July 2003, the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations (COCSA) initiated the fundraising effort to honor the contributions Caron made to the organization. Caron served on the COCSA Board and was an active participant in COCSA programs from the time of her affiliation with the NCCA in 1995. This is the type of response Christine inspired in all of usthe desire to do more because of the leadership she gave, said Janet Jordan, Executive Director of COCSA. Funds from these seminars were designated by the company to support the building of a new NCCA headquarters that will have a seminar classroom named after Caron. Messier Appointed Lincoln College Biomechanics Chair The Florida State University (FSU) College of Human Sciences announces Stephen P. Messier, PhD, as the recently appointed Lincoln Chiropractic College Eminent Scholar Chair in Biomechanics. He assumes the chair on a consulting basis to develop a physical activity and biomechanical research program with faculty at FSU. Messier received his PhD in biomechanics from Temple University, and an MS and BS from the University of Rhode Island in physical education and civil engineering, respectively. Currently, Messier serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Aging and Physical Activity and has also served on the Geriatrics and Rehabilitation Study Section for the National Institutes of Health. |
