Charrette Wins First Advanced Citizen Award

Mark Charrette, DC, a specialist in extremity adjusting, biomechanics, and spinal adjusting techniques, was recently presented with an Advanced Citizen Award at The Masters Circle seminar in Teaneck, NJ. “It is a sincere pleasure to be acknowledged and honored by The Masters Circle with the first Advanced Citizen Award,” says Charrette. “I truly enjoy being of service to the chiropractic profession.”

During the seminar Charrette, on behalf of Foot Levelers Inc, Roanoke, Va, enrolled Winners Circle members in a new research project designed to determine the value of orthotics in helping to stabilize the spine and aid patients in holding their adjustments. There are 132 doctors currently enrolled in this research project.

“Mark is an ideal example of an advanced citizen in chiropractic, a role model for all doctors of chiropractic to follow and emulate,” says Bob Hoffman, DC, president of The Masters Circle. “He has confidence, certainty, and cares deeply about his colleagues and the profession.”

 Commencement Ceremonies Held at Palmer
“If but one person lives without pain because of you, you are a success,” Palmer College Interim President Donald Kern, DC, told the 193 graduates at Palmer College. February 27, 2004, marked the graduation of 186 Doctor of Chiropractic and seven Associate of Science in Chiropractic Technology degree recipients.

“The credentials presented here today are the most widely known, widely respected, and honored credentials in the profession of chiropractic,” Gale Lewellen, MS, professor of anatomy, said during the commencement address. “Our real task is to keep improving. As soon as possible, establish a room or corner in your home, away from the TV, a library where you can continue to learn.”

Palmer Eases Post-College Transition
In an effort to ease the transition from student to doctor, Palmer Chiropractic College formed The Masters Circle Club. Created in reaction to the College Connection Program that is currently offered by The Masters Circle to all chiropractic colleges, the club’s objective is to empower students with the tools and resources to create success in practice and in life. The club provides the students with mentors and the chance to learn about their specific philosophies, procedures, and other key strategies that have been vital in their success.

“We realize the significance of an investment between veteran chiropractors and their future colleagues,” says Janice Hughes, DC, at the Palmer Institute for Professional Advancement. “This club was created to provide students with mentors. It offers a blend of activities to help students build a successful practice after graduation while stressing the importance that it is who they are that determines how well what they do works.”

“After experiencing the conference, I came back to school with an entirely different outlook and focus on what truly creates a great chiropractor,” says Kari Shandley, a student at Palmer and the coordinator for the club. “This club offers an opportunity for us to continue our growth and development.”
