Reach Out and Touch Someone

Miwon SeoIn today’s world where stories of corporate greed such as Enron are pervasive and all too frequent, it is refreshing to hear of a win-win marketing strategy such as one proposed by Len Schwartz, DC, president and owner of Chiropower LLC. Operation Phone Back Home (OPBH) is a free comprehensive marketing package that benefits the soldiers stationed in Iraq, their families, and the chiropractic profession. Chiropractors would donate a percentage of the initial new patient visit.

The idea came to Schwartz after listening to an interview with a few soldiers who were leaving for Iraq. They expressed their concerns about leaving their families, financial difficulties, and loneliness. All of this resulted in astronomical phone bills during their tour of duty. Schwartz decided that donating calling cards to the families of his local Air Force Base was one way he could support the troops. A phone card vendor agreed to discount calling cards not only to him, but to the entire chiropractic profession.

He then designed a marketing campaign package to offer to participating chiropractors free of charge. This package includes: 1) a step-by-step guide; 2) all necessary documents such as press releases to send to the media (television and radio stations and newspapers), advertisements, and a patient referral letter; and 3) marketing and implementation support.

To get started, participating chiropractors would promote this program in their practices and community and send the press releases to their local media announcing a special promotion for new patients. To help the military, DCs agree to donate calling cards to their local military bases in the name of their new patients by investing a percentage of initial visit fees. This will generate goodwill and publicity about participating chiropractors who are supporters of the soldiers in Iraq and leaders in their communities—not to mention promoting the chiropractic profession in a positive light.

“I am excited to provide the chiropractic profession with the opportunity to give back to our service men and women who are stationed abroad,” Schwartz says. “This program will generate positive media exposure for our profession as a whole, for individual doctors, their communities, their patients, and their potential patients. We are the only profession united in a worthwhile endeavor such as this, and our goal is to provide 100,000 or more phone cards to local military bases in thousands of cities across the country.”

How often does a chance like this come along? This program will benefit our troops, patients, the chiropractic community, and your practice. OPBH details and marketing package can be found on www.chiropowerinc.com. Who would have thought that a simple thing as a phone call can help boost morale for everyone involved? CP
