Greenawalt Named 2003 Humanitarian of the Year
The Masters Circle awarded Kent S. Greenawalt with the 2003 Humanitarian of the Year awardmost prestigious award of The Masters Circle.
Im deeply honored by this award, said Greenawalt. The Masters Circle is an organization with a reputation for caring, and to receive this from them inspires me to reach out even more.
Greenawalt is president and CEO of Foot Levelers Inc, Roanoke, Va. The award was presented to Greenawalt at The Masters Circle Super Conference, which took place in Las Vegas on November 6, 2003.
Greenawalt was chosen because he is an unheralded hero in the world of chiropractic, said Larry Markson, DC, during the presentation. Through his unparalleled generosity to the profession, Foot Levelers Inc has donated more than $5 million to chiropractic colleges and during the September 11 attacks, donated more than $500,000 to benefit those who lost loved ones by matching dollar for dollar the monies donated by chiropractors.
Stern Elected to CCE Board of Directors
Neil Stern, DC, was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE). Sterns term began in January 2004 and will continue for 3 years.
Since its inception, the CCE and its Commission on Accreditation has worked diligently in the best interests of chiropractic education, said Stern. At one time, I served on the Commission, and I appreciate the decisions that are made and the hours upon hours that are needed to come to accreditation decisions. I am pleased and honored that my colleagues in this educational arena have thought enough of me to once again allow me to serve on the Board of Directors of the CCE.
Stern was elected in the category of a non-CEO member from a CCE-Accredited Chiropractic Program. The Board of the CCE consists of thirteen individuals in three separate categories. Members of the Board are elected by current members and manage the business and affairs of the CCE.
PeaceHealth Welcomes Christensen
Kim Christensen, DC, a board-certified rehabilitation chiropractor, joined the Rehab and Wellness Services Team at PeaceHealth.
Christensen is the first chiropractic physician to practice at PeaceHealths Lower Columbia region. He is currently a postgraduate faculty member of numerous chiropractic colleges and is the current past-president of the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) Rehab Council. He recently received the Presidents Award at the annual meeting of the American Chiropractic Association and has been appointed as the ACA representative to the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
Christensen is the author of numerous publications about musculoskeletal rehabilitation and has participated as a team chiropractor to high school and university athletic programs.
He also contributes to the Rehabilitation Advisor column and is an Editorial Advisory Board member of Chiropractic Products.
Wells Joins State Board of Chiropractic Examiners
The California State Board of Chiropractic Examiners welcomed a new member, Sara Wells, DC, a chiropractor with a practice in Oakland, Calif.
Wells will join other Board members in assuring that the consumers of California are provided with qualified and adequate chiropractic services, and that those services meet recognized standards of performance for treatment or practice. The seven-member Board regulates and licenses chiropractors in California and are all appointed by the Governor.
Wells is a 1995 graduate of Life Chiropractic College West, Hayward, Calif, and the first Life West alumna to be appointed to the California State Board of Chiropractic Examiners. She is an active member of the Institute for Community Leadership, the California Chiropractic Association, and the True Vine Missionary Baptist Church Auxiliary.
