 Mancini honored by the ACA
The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) has named Fabrizio Mancini, DC, president of Parker College of Chiropractic, as a recipient of the prestigious Presidential Award, which recognizes outstanding service to the ACA and chiropractic profession. The award was presented at the association’s national legislative meeting held recently in Washington, DC.

During the award presentation, ACA President David Wills saluted Mancini for his visionary leadership and commitment to increase awareness of the programs and initiatives of the National Chiropractic Legal Action Fund (NCLAF). “His contributions to our profession are significant and far-reaching by using the Parker Seminars as a forum to reinforce the importance of supporting the chiropractic profession, ACA, and NCLAF,” Wills said.

“There are no words to express my appreciation to the ACA for selecting me as a recipient of this award,” Mancini remarked. “We look forward to partnering with our colleagues and the ACA on future initiatives.”

Willis concluded, “Each year we celebrate and honor outstanding contributions of colleagues, elected officials, and business leaders who make a difference in the lives of literally thousands of persons. What they have in common is a commitment to increase the awareness of the chiropractic profession and the issues that affect our daily lives.”

Breakthrough and Foot Levelers Donate to NCLAF
At the Parker Seminars in Las Vegas, two significant donations were made to the National Chiropractic Legal Action Fund (NCLAF).

Mark Sanna, DC, CEO of Breakthrough Coaching, made a commitment to contribute $100,000, which is the largest single donation in the history of the NCLAF. Sanna presented the donation to Fabrizio Mancini, DC, president of Parker College of Chiropractic.

Kent S. Greenawalt, CEO of Foot Levelers Inc, presented a check for $27,000 to the American Chiropractic Association for the NCLAF. It was in addition to more than $28,000 in contributions provided to the NCLAF to help with important lawsuits in 2002.

“These lawsuits are critical to the future of chiropractic,” Greenawalt said. “We have a duty to defend our profession. Allowing patients access to chiropractic and being paid for the good work we do is vital. These lawsuits are our future.”

The first suit seeks to protect the chiropractic profession’s right to detect and correct subluxations and maintain the exclusivity that chiropractors enjoy over other health care professionals, such as osteopaths and medical doctors from falsely claiming they detect and correct subluxations.

The second lawsuit against Trigon Blue Cross/Blue Shield seeks to end the practice of reimbursement discrimination, where insurance companies limit reimbursement or blatantly pay chiropractors less for identical services offered by other providers.

Parker awards $10,000 grant for Inner-City Games
The Inner-City Games Foundation (ICGF) has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Parker College of Chiropractic (PCC) to support its youth fitness and educational outreach programs. Fabrizio Mancini, DC, president of PCC, presented the contribution to Arnold Schwarzenegger, board chair and cofounder, during his annual Fitness Weekend and Expo in Columbus, Ohio.

The contribution to the ICGF will help fund sports, educational, cultural, and community enrichment programs to build confidence and self-esteem and encourage the younger generation.

“We are pleased to present this donation to the [ICGF] on behalf of chiropractic and Parker College,” Mancini remarked. “We share ICGF’s belief that ‘kids are a lifetime investment.’ This donation is the first phase in an initiative that includes our commitment to build awareness of this outstanding program and encourage our chiropractic profession to embrace and support it.”

“Chiropractic is about health and fitness,” Schwarzenegger said. “We are so pleased to be working with this organization to help us bring health and fitness to the young people in our after-school program.”

Founded in 1991, the Inner-City Games (ICG) was formed in response to the growing number of young people living in poverty and confronting the negative influences that pervade throughout America’s inner cities. The ICG began in Los Angeles when Schwarzenegger joined forces with founder Daniel Hernandez to give inner-city youth a positive alternative to drugs and gangs.

In 1995, Schwarzenegger created ICGF, expanding the program nationwide. In 6 years, the ICG has served more than one million young Americans and has grown to 15 major US cities: Atlanta, Chicago, Columbus (Ohio), Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando (Fla), Philadelphia, San Antonio, San Diego, and San Jose (Calif). Each city brings together local community leaders, creating an alliance between the private and public sector to provide comprehensive, quality after-school programs during the critical hours of 3 pm to 6 pm, 5 days per week, year-round.
