Maurice A. Pisciottano, president and founder of Pro-Solutions for Chiropractic, McMurray, Pa

PisciottanoThe marriage of technology and chiropractic is not mutually exclusive. DCs and their patients can benefit from the latest technological advancements. Chiropractic Products asked Maurice A. Pisciottano, DC, president and founder of Pro-Solutions for Chiropractic, McMurray, Pa, how chiropractors can stay abreast of new products that improve their practices and get results for their patients.

How has technology improved chiropractic not only for patients, but for DCs as well?

Technology has improved people's health and simultaneously made chiropractors’ jobs easier by standardization of evaluation in management procedures to determine 1) if a patient needs to be treated on a specific day, and 2) when a patient's treatment is complete for that day based on objective information. Prior to this, DCs were forced to use symptoms to determine the cause of patients’ conditions and to analyze any improvement based on treatment, which is a direct reflection of the medical model of thinking (MMT).

Why is education of both patient and doctor such an important part of the profession?

It is critical that doctors have a sequence that consistently and concisely changes their MMT. This sequence should consist of analyzing, treating, re-analyzing, and then educating patients on a daily basis. Only through education about the patients’ condition and the future recommendations for care will they feel comfortable and willing to accept chiropractic as their primary health care choice.

Tell us why “consistent treatment” is so important.

Consistent treatment is critical to patient management and results so that new levels of function are achieved from the course of their treatment plan. If you have a treatment plan that is not consistent, patients will not reach the highest possible plateau of results. Consistent treatment is critical for chiropractors to assess how and why patients are improving.

How and why was the Pro-Adjuster developed?

The Pro-Adjuster was developed after many years of chiropractors and engineers working together to develop a system that incorporates science, mathematics, and physics to evaluate and treat patients from a chiropractic standpoint.

Tell us about Pro-Solution's commitment to the chiropractic profession.

Pro-Solutions is a company that was born out of chiropractic. My commitment to chiropractic is the foundation on which I have built this company. Our technology is reserved for chiropractors only—you must be licensed to practice chiropractic and have attended a CCE-approved college. At Pro-Solutions, we view our job from a technological and training standpoint. Our goal is to improve the way chiropractic care is perceived and delivered. We help raise end-user awareness of the chiropractic profession, and increase the number of individuals who want to be in practice. The physical challenges faced by many chiropractors due to the various techniques used are being eliminated with the technology of the Pro-Adjuster. Chiropractors feel better and can treat more patients with less stress to their own bodies with this technology.

What do you see for the future of chiropractic?

The future of chiropractic is extremely bright because of our ability to get results. Through communication between patients and DCs, the percentage of the population that receives chiropractic care will increase. I also believe, now more than ever, the general public is interested in increasing their ideal wellness. There is a heightened awareness toward better health and fitness across the country. Since chiropractic is a phenomenal results-oriented system, it only stands to reason that it will be the health care of choice for more people. CP
