productDecompression Therapy
Adagen Medical International introduces the ABS System™, a nonsurgical approach to the relief of lower back pain through decompression therapy. Clinical studies have shown vertebral decompression to be an effective treatment of disc herniation, disc degeneration, facet syndrome, and sciatica. The ABS System’s treatment program involves the application of distraction forces to spinal structures in a graduated manner. Distraction is offset by cycles of partial relaxation. Negative pressure within the disc is maintained throughout the treatment session. Over time, the negative pressure promotes the diffusion of water, oxygen, and nutrients into the disc, helping the disc to heal itself.

The patient’s table, decompression device, built-in stereo system, and touch-tone screen, are all part of the ABS System. The patient table includes pelvic and chest harnesses secure the patient to the machine during treatment sessions. The decompression device delivers four different decompression programs. Its vertical movement allows the clinician to target a specific segment of the spine for treatment. The built-in stereo system with headphones offers soothing music to promote relaxation during treatment sessions. The touch-tone screen is used both to enter patient treatment data and to monitor the treatment while it is in progress.
