Adjustment System
Pro-Solutions for Chiropractic Inc, McMurray, Pa, offers the Pro-Adjuster, computer-assisted technology that pinpoints spinal problems, treats patients, and monitors results.
The chiropractor evaluates and treats patients with the Pro-Adjuster while seated with spine in mild flexion to allow joints between the vertebrae to be analyzed and adjusted individually. There is no torquing or twisting of the spine.
Each vertebra is analyzed by evaluating the echo of a 6-pound percussive force that the Pro-Adjuster introduces to the body. A sensor reads the mechanical output and software allows the chiropractor to analyze the vertebrae.
Each bar on a graph represents a single spinal segment in the cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral regions. Waveform analysis indicates the function of the vertebral motor unit (comprised of the vertebra, associated discs, tendons, and ligaments). Vertebral resonating frequency is also used to determine if adjustment is necessary.
Patients can visualize problems and see improvement. Once adjustment needs are identified, the chiropractor uses the Pro-Adjuster to treat the problem. Adjusting speed is based on the harmonic or vibrating frequency of the vertebra.

Custom Orthotics
Rieckens Orthotic Laboratory, Evansville, Ind, offers foot specialists the opportunity to create custom orthotic inserts in 1 hour by using the Shoe and Foot Interfacing Orthosis (SAFIO) fabrication process, which mates foot, shoe, and orthosis and eliminates the need for foot models and plaster work.
The SAFIO process allows orthotics to be made directly on the patients foot, with many material choices, for fast fit, function, and comfort. In a single process, SAFIO creates custom total contact inserts that mold to the shape of the foot and shoe, using Visco Elastic Polymer, a gel-like material that flows under pressure and returns to its original shape, like a shock absorber, before each impact.
A patent on the process and another on the apparatus protects SAFIO. Rieckens issues a nonexclusive license to qualified professional foot orthosis facilities to use the process and apparatus. Angle Chairs
HealthPostures Inc, Belle Plaine, Minn, offers Stance angle chairs to reduce musculoskeletal injury caused by long-term sitting.
The angle chair seat adjusts from flat to nearly upright, and the chair back adjusts simultaneously as the seat angle changes to maintain lumbar support. A leg cushion enhances and supports postures from neutral sitting to kneeling to recline standing. The angle chair eliminates static stress loads on muscles and ligaments, accelerates blood and fluid flows, and redistributes gravity pressure to ease numbness and pooling of blood in the arms and legs. The pelvis can be tilted forward to eliminate lumbar pressure. For more information, contact HealthPostures Inc; 800-277-1841; fax: 952-873-3350; www.healthpostures.com. CP

Ergonomic Backpacks
AirPacks® Inc, Beverly, Mass, offers Airpacks System backpacks for ergonomic support.
Using air in the shoulder straps and lumbar support, the backpacks shift weight from the neck and shoulders to the lower back. The system also creates a fulcrum that promotes an upright standing position and reduces compressional loading of the acromioclavicular joints and stress on the trapezius muscles. The biomechanical design reduces the risk of impingement problems. AirPacks products are endorsed by the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations (COCSA) and the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA), and are approved by Backpack Safety America. They are available in an assortment of styles and colors. For more information, contact AirPacks Inc; 978-921-5566; 800-310-7383 fax: 978-921-5567; email: info@airpacks.com ; www.airpacks.com. CP
